i am on ios 10 via device, yet when i try to update my apple watch, it says: watchOS 2.2.2 your software is up to date.
any reason for this?

If you have previously been using beta software, try deleting the beta profile(s) and restarting both devices.

i in did had a beta profile on my watch and device, i in did had them removed - BUT didn't make a restart, once i did so after your recommendation, issue has been solved and i am downloading the new os as we speak!!!
